Comprehensive Clinical Preparation
Alvernia鈥檚 MSW program emphasizes clinical practice in behavioral health, with coursework that explores both mental health and addiction. These topics are integrated across key areas of the curriculum, including human behavior, social work practice, research, and policy.
Through this academic structure, students develop a deeper understanding of the social, psychological, and environmental factors that influence behavioral health. The program prepares students to work with diverse populations and address the complex needs of individuals, families, and communities.
Students are trained to engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate across multiple levels of practice. This includes work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. The program also emphasizes cultural awareness and prepares students to practice effectively within diverse environments.
Guided by Alvernia鈥檚 Franciscan values, the curriculum encourages students to demonstrate ethical and professional behavior as they serve vulnerable populations.
