All are welcome to join ��ҹ������Ʒ���� at the following events on campus and locally during Women's History Month. Events that are open to the public are listed as such. In honor of the countless women who raise their voices in support of women’s rights, The National Women’s History Alliance has chosen “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future” as the theme for Women’s History Month 2026. Throughout 2026, the NWHA will encourage recognition of women, past and present, who have been leading the change in designing blueprints for sustainable transformation in all forms of intertwined issues.

Alvernia Women's Council (AWC)

Since its inception, the AWC has spearheaded numerous programs, including the AWC Fall Luncheon, the AWC mentorship program, on-campus student programs focused on personal and professional development, quarterly networking events and cultivation events are meant to inspire and strengthen the engagement of AWC members to each other and the University. National Catholic Sisters Week: March 8-14

In 1926, the seeds for ��ҹ������Ʒ���� were planted by women. Nearly 100 years later, the Franciscan Catholic roots of those original seeds run deep as four women hold top positions, including the first female lay president in Alvernia’s history, Glynis A. Women’s History Month Chef Spotlight: Every Monday in March

• Description: This Women’s History Month, we will honor our chefs whose perseverance, resilience, and creativity inspire dishes that bring people together. This month will feature a spotlight of one of our own Pack Hospitality team members!

Look What SHE Did! Series

Look What SHE Did! is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to inspire women and girls to greatness by bringing to light stories of remarkable women who changed the world. They create short films and events featuring female storytellers celebrating women who inspire them, freely offering the films to be viewed, discussed, and enjoyed.

“Ma Rainey's Black Bottom” on Netflix – 2020 (R)

In July 1927, Ma Rainey is a highly regarded blues singer who has recently been contracted by white producers. During a recording session, tensions rise between Ma, her ambitious horn player, who wishes to break free of Ma by securing his own record deal, and the white management determined to control the uncontrollable "Mother of the Blues.”  

“Hidden Figures” on Disney+ – 2016 (PG)

This inspiring film highlights the scientific contributions of three incredible women of color; Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. These brilliant African-American women working at NASA “served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history; the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.”

“The Joy Luck Club” rent on Prime or Apple TV – 1993 (R)

In San Francisco, a group of aging Chinese women meet regularly to trade familial stories while playing Mahjong. In a series of sixteen short stories that span generations and continents, this adaptation of Amy Tan's bestselling novel explores cultural conflict and the often-turbulent relationships between four first-generation Chinese-American women and their mothers.

“A Ballerina’s Tale” on Roku – 2015 (R)

A feature documentary on African American ballerina Misty Copeland that examines her prodigious rise, her potentially career ending injury alongside themes of race and body image in the elite ballet world.

“Bridgerton” on Netflix – 2020 (TV-MA)

Based on the series by Julia Quinn, produced by Shonda Rhimes, and led by showrunner Jess Brownell, the eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society.

“Killing Eve” on Netflix – 2018-2022 (TV-14)

Super-spy Eve and assassin Villanelle go head-to-head in a fierce game of cat and mouse, with intrigue blossoming into obsession when the British spy pursues a playful, stylish and utterly ruthless assassin working for a mysterious organization.

“Barbie” on HBO MAX – 2023 (PG-13)
